CRETE WOMAN'S CLUB

All women of Crete and its vicinity are eligible for membership in this organization whose purpose is to promote friendship among the women of the Crete area.  The Crete Woman's Club dates back to 1912 when a group of Crete women formed the organization for the purpose of community service.  Our organization continues with that purpose, as the main interest of this club is to work towards the promotion
of a unified effort toward peace and charity and service throughout the community.

  T
hough the Crete Woman's Club's goals and objectives are to give back to the community by being charitable, we also enjoy the camaraderie and friendship of women who like to have fun.  Since its inception, the Crete Woman's Club has been there to beautify the community; to support education; to enrich the minds of our children; to promote the Arts; and to help the less fortunate.  The organization is comprised of talented, creative women who come from all segments of community; are leaders in the community;
and are working toward one common goal.....charity in the community.

          Through its philanthropic efforts the Crete Woman's Club has disbursed contributions to the Crete Public Library, the Crete Park District, St. Jude's Youth Ranch, Will County Forest Preserve District, School District 201-U and other local schools.  Philanthropic donations have included Y-Me Breast Cancer, Angels
on Assignment, South Suburban Special Recreation Association, Thorn Creek Audubon Society,
Multiple Sclerosis, St. James Manor, Crete Police Department's DARE Program as well as the Girl Scouts
and Boy Scouts in the area.  The money derived from the primary fundraisers go to local students for scholarships for academics, art, music, and athletics. In addition the Club participates
in the Salvation Army Bell Ringing, and assists the Crete Pantry.

The best part of our group is the friendships formed.  Some of these friendships
extend into fun activities which include 2 Book Clubs that meet once a month
to discuss books and authors; the Bridge or Pinochle groups; and the Great Decisions Forum
that meets to discuss current events. The major fundraisers for the Crete Woman's Club
are the April 1st Lottery Dinner, and the June "Day in the Country" Garden Walk.
All members are expected to participate in these two events.

 Come and join the organization of women in the Crete area who for almost a century
have made a difference in the south suburban region. Membership dues are
$20 per year. For more information, or to request a membership application,
