CRETE WOMAN'S CLUB

All women of Crete and its vicinity are eligible for membership in this organization
whose purpose is to promote friendship among the women of the Crete area.
The Crete Woman's Club dates back to 1912 when a group of Crete women formed
the organization for the purpose of community service.  Our organization continues
with that purpose, as the main interest of the club is to work towards the promotion
of a unified effort toward peace and charity and service throughout the community.

Though the Crete Woman's Club's goals are to give back to the community
by being charitable, we also enjoy the camaraderie and friendship of women
who like to have fun. Since its inception, the Crete Woman's Club has been there
to beautify the community; to support education; to enrich the minds of children;
to promote the Arts; and to help the less fortunate. The organization is comprised
of talented, creative women who come from all segments of the community;
are leaders in the community; and are working toward
one common goal.....charity in the community.

Through its philanthropic efforts the Crete Woman's Club contributes
to the Crete Public Library, Crete Park District, Crete Community Nature Park,
and various special programs of the Crete-Monee School District
201-U.
Other philanthropic donations include Angels on Assignment, Thorn Creek Audubon
Society, South Suburban Family Shelter, Jones Memorial Community Center,
Crete F-Men, Aunt Martha's and Trinity Services.
Monies  from the primary fund raisers go to local students
for academic and summer camp scholarships.
In addition, the Club participates in the
Salvation Army Bell Ringing and assists the Crete Pantry.

The best part of our group is the friendships formed.  Some of these friendships
extend into fun activities which include two Book Clubs that meet once a month
to discuss books and authors; the Bridge marathon or Pinochle group;
and the Great Decisions Forum that meets each spring to discuss current events.
The major fund raisers for the Crete Woman's Club
are the April 1st "No Fool's Feast", and the
"Day in the Country" Garden Walk (now in July).
All members are expected to participate in these two events.

Come and join the organization of women in the Crete area
who for almost a century have made a difference in the South Suburban region.
Membership dues are $30 per year.
